We're hoping to rid the league of all the things that create confusion and negative responses from other owners. We've had complaints about the disparity in the time it takes different owners to make picks. The way we do the draft is different than most leagues, since we take weeks instead of doing it in one sitting, and there's a certain charm in the process of waiting for picks to be announced that way. However, we can't continue to have some picks take longer than others, because there's a tangible advantage to delaying a selection, if there's breaking injury news, or a trade, new closer announcement, or some other factor that may suddenly give free agents a boost. We're going to have to agree on a maximum amount of time a person can take making a pick. I think two hours/three hours is reasonable. Even if you're at work, in a meeting, away from the desk, having lunch, etc, you'll be able to have a general idea of when you'll be next, and who the available players are. Some people will be ready to make their pick within minutes, but for those who may need a little longer, this should be enough.
If we can't agree to some way to monitor the amount of time people take, then we'll probably just do the draft in one day, live draft.

My vote is to keep the draft the way we do it every year....w/ no time limit

Post call: I used the phrase "I don't want to throw anyone under the bus" about 20 times in the call. We really do need to have some kind of time limit, because of the fact teams that take the longest gain an advantage. I know it sounds harsh to set a limit, but here are some tips on how to prepare for the change: 1) know when you're up next; 2) have a few names ready beforehand; 3) choose a 'draft buddy', a person you can trust, to make a pick for you on the off chance you're too busy to make the pick yourself; 4) buy the 3rd annual Fat Raf FBL Free Agent Draft Guide, and you'll be able to make a pick within minutes.

It is currently November 18, 2015. We need to have a completed draft by Mid March, 2016. Can we please set a date soon and once and for all do a live draft? A live draft with the amount of rounds we need to have will take 3 hours MAX on one day, which is far less than the time we have to put in on any given day. We will have a maximum of 220 picks, but we know it will be less due to keepers, last year we had 207 picks.
Through this board, we have to be able to find one day in which we can all dedicate 3 hours. Even if we are able to narrow down 3 dates and then we can confirm a date a week out.
Our current draft process is tedious and slow because people are unaware when they are free, is it really a major imposition to say, "I will do my best to keep March 19, March 20 and April 2 free from 7pm Eastern time to 10pm Eastern time." Then on March 13 we check in and say, is everyone still free on March 20 at 7pm eastern, 4pm pacific?
Maybe I'm missing something major, but this seems to solve our problem.
