First, thanks to all the owners who called in. I did hear from everyone; Lopez had texted to say he was on a trip to Pittsburgh, Baumann and Monserrate reached out to say he couldn't make it, and Horta called to ask for the phone number while I was on the call, so I was unable to give it to him. So pretty much everyone directly or indirectly checked in.
We discussed three major changes: daily lineup changes vs. lineups locking at the start of the week; SP/RP eligibility ; changing categories (specifically saves to saves+ holds).
The category changes is something we can put up for a vote, so refer to the message board if you'd like to chime in. James led me to believe he brought this suggestion up in the event we changed the SP/RP rule.
We discussed the SP/RP. I brought it up for a vote, since I felt some teams could take advantage of the rule. The consensus on the call was that the usage of such players could backfire, and as such, it's simply a strategy a team can choose to employ. I brought up my main issue, that teams need to be able to know another team won't have the benefit of changing lineups the deadline. As long as everyone knows the pros and cons, I don't think we need to spend too much more energy on this.
The one issue we do need to clear up, and the one we really need to continue to discuss is the daily changes. Ramos and Manfre expressed their ideas, about how we should reward teams that are active. I expressed my concern that this will require very specific daily monitoring of lineups. I think we need to hear from everyone, and take advantage we have a few more days until Lindsley returns, so we can hear from everyone.
I had expressed my belief that the impetus for allowing lineup changes in the past few years was player injuries. Manfre suggested the possibility of allowing changes that are league manager (LM) approved and executed, if players go on the DL or have a clear injury.
I think we've pretty much agreed that we're going to have a specific time lineups will lock, that we're going to expect teams to be more receptive to text message interactions and communication, and that the new Ramos-suggested idea of having fake teams with all our rookie contract players, one I put off for a few years, will be a welcome addition.
Please share your thoughts on the threads here, because we do need to decide on these things.
